Carolyn's Corner

Well it looks like we might just see spring after all. I am really ready for some sunshine and blue skies. The new spring lines of fabric have got me inspired to start some new projects. I love the bright pure colors in nature and nature is at its best in spring. Spring, spring, spring, a new fresh beginning! It's time to freshen up your stash with a little color. See what you have and what would perk it up a bit. Freshen up your house with a little spring color. Make some new table runners or accent pillows to bring indoors the fresh color of spring. Make some appliquιd dish towels with spring flowers or a new throw size quilt for the back of the sofa. Make your home as fresh as spring!

We have some fun classes planned and a few other events that I hope will interest you. We have a psychic coming for an evening of entertainment.

Chris Husak Zane will be doing a slide presentation on hand dying and how to use those beautiful hand dyes.

And of course our very own quilt show "The Parade of Penguins" Don't miss it. Canterbury village starts to come alive in the spring. The grounds come alive with color. Come in shopping, browse the many other shops and have lunch. We have many small groups that visit and plan a day around the quilt shoppe. Bring a friend and spend an afternoon. You can always just stop by to say Hi. Well, I must go and get sewing. I have sooo many Ideas in my head.

Happy Quilting!

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Susan Walker, Sara Pfahlert, Trudy Tormay, and Kathy Wilheim. These four people have won our filled $25.00 punch card drawing for this quarter. Happy Spending! Don't forget to put your name the phone number on the back of your cards when you turn them in.

The Parade of Penguins Quilt Show The date for the Show will be April 13th & 14th at the Always Christmas Store, here in the village. It will be Viewers Choice so come and see all the quilts and cast your vote!! Admission is free, but the experience will be priceless. Bring a friend and make a day of it. There also will be drawings through out the village. It's so much fun to see what all our talented quilters have done with the penguins. It promises to be a great show and a real inspiration for your future projects.

Where the Pretty Bugs Live Update Well, we are shooting for August 11, 2007.If Michigan weather will allow, it will be an outside show. We plan to hang the quilts from the trees through out the village. It is the perfect place to display the pretty bugs. I also would like to invite quilt guilds to come and sell raffle tickets for their raffle quilts that day, so if you belong to a guild that has one please extend this invitation to them. For more information call the shoppe at (248-391-5727). It should be a great event. So get busy on those bug quilts and let us know if you are entering yours. We will except entries up to August 1st so you have lots of time to finish.

Thimbleberries 2007 It's still not too late to join Thimbleberries House and Garden Club. We still have kits left in both the light and bright and the warm and cozy. If you're interested, just drop by.

Seating will be limited so sign up early to guarantee your spot. We can only accommodate 15 people to insure everyone has a reading. What a fun way to spend an evening. Call a friend and sign up. Chris Husak Zane On Thursday, May 17, 2007 6:00 - 8:00pm, Chris Husak Zane will be presenting a slide show on hand dying. She will explain the process and show you how best to use these unique fabrics. Come and see her beautiful work and learn from one of the best in the field. Seating will be limited so sign up early. There will be no charge for this great experience.

Toys for Lighthouse The chest is empty again so it's time to start again for this Christmas. There will be lots of children in need again this year so sort through your scraps and get creative. The lighthouse loved all the doll quilts, pillowcases, and marble bags all of you donated last year. The chest is waiting so you can drop them off anytime. Thank you all so much in helping the local children have a Merrier Christmas. Under the Big Top Circus Block-of-the-Month The Circus is doing great. Everyone seems to be having fun with it and we have a lot of people doing it. I have been asked to increase the blocks to twelve so don't be surprised if I throw in a couple extra blocks along the way. But the rule (the only rule) will remain the same. You only have to use nine of the blocks to enter the show at the end. So if you don't like a few you can toss them or use them all. It's up to you. You can still get in on the fun. The blocks must be picked up each month, any day of the month. We try hard to make it easy for pick-up. If they are not picked up each month, they will cost you $2.50 each. Sorry. Sign up now!!!!

Email Addresses Needed! Because of the ever increasing cost of the newsletter I have decided to change over to email as a way to keep the cost down. By the Fall of 2007, we will email newsletters. They will also be available on our website or in the shoppe. We are working on redoing the website and updating it. Soon the classes will be listed on it along with coming events. I will let you know how the progress is going. As you all know computers and me don't get along. I hope this is easier and less costly.
