Inspirations for tomorrow's
heirlooms…….
Where OPTIONS are
a must……..
Carolyn's
Corner
Summer is here. I love the
blue skies, but I don't love the heat. Cool cool air condition. I love
to garden, but the heat is unbearable. I have chosen to garden with
fabric. A nice floral quilt with no weeds will be my gardening this
year. I'll leave the real gardening for the cooler days.
Market was good, but not
a lot of new and exciting ideas. The fabrics seem to be pretty much
the same. Nothing really stood out as a new trend. I did, however, find
some great knew designers and I did buy some new and exciting patterns.
So watch as they trickle in. I took my granddaughter with me to market
and also to the Mall of America. It was her treat for doing great in
school. It was also nice to see the fabric through the eyes of a teenager.
I let her buy some new and trendy lines which will be coming in also.
It will be interesting to see how they do. This was the first time my
granddaughter showed any interest in fabric. Imagine that and she really
IS my granddaughter. Maybe this buying trip will help her to see the
light.(The fabric light, and medium and darks and all their possibilities)
No matter, I will still love her even if she choses not to quilt.
I have a new block of the
month coming in September and it will be a little different. Read on
to find out about it. We are also kitting for McCall's Quilting,
Quick Quilts and Quilter's World for the projects I do for
these magazines. We will also have these kits available at the shoppe.
Ahh, the website store. Well we are still waiting. Boy the wheels turn
slowwwwwww.
We also are now offering
sewing machine cleaning and tune ups, so read about that.
You have a great summer and
stop by and say hi.

Stockings
for Lighthouse
DON'T toss those left over
Christmas fabrics. How about making a stocking for the Lighthouse's
Christmas store for this year? We will have a pattern available for
anyone who wants so participate. We will give it to you if you ask.
My thought on this is, if you make the stockings all year in your spare
time, the shoppe will fill them up and what a great gift it will make
for the kids next year. You get to use up your scraps, feel good about
your donation, and the kids will have a keepsake from a loving and caring
quilter. Everyone wins. After all Christmas is about giving. We have
about 60 stockings already. Wouldn't it be great if we could collect
enough for all the needy children in the area? We also have had some
donations of small stocking stuffers. Thank you and you know who you
are……
This Year's
Motto: Ditto!!!!! (With the economy, I think it is appropriate to repeat
this Motto.)
Clean,
Organize, and Finish!!!!
Sewing
Machine Cleaning and Tune ups

"Pick
a Bouquet" and "Let It Snow" Quilt Show August
21st and 22nd
Calling all Chubby Chicks,
Past Mysteries, and Retreat Round Robins
Our customers are some
of the most talented quilters ANYWHERE. We need you. Why go anywhere
else when we have the very best right here. If you have done a past
mystery here at the shoppe or a Chubby Chick quilt we would love to
hang them so other quilter's can enjoy them also. And those of you who
participated in the Round Robin from our retreat, it's time to finish
it if you haven't already. I would love to show off how beautiful they
turned out. We will have show registrations in the shop if you would
like to enter any of the exhibits or enter your Pick a Bouquet and Let
It Snow. This show is always free admission. It's a great way to see
local quilter's work and enjoy the quilts you rarely see at the other
quilt shows. I always find our shows full of inspiration. We have so
many talented quilters in our area. I am always amazed by their pieces.
Even if you are not entering a quilt please come and see them. Also,
if you are part of a small group and have worked on a group project,
we would be interested in displaying them as a group. Just drop in and
let us see and we will make arrangements for a special display for your
group project.
New
Block-of-the-Month will start in September
We will be starting a new
block-of-the-month in September, something new and different. We will
have three ways to finish the same blocks: one in batiks, one in wool,
and one in fusions. We will be kitting this program. There will be a
starter kit and a finish kit to make it less expensive and a monthly
kit for the applique. I can't wait to get this started. I had a lot
of fun designing it. If you are a hand appliquer, this was designed
for you. It can also be done by machine. Watch for updates on this.
I will post pictures on the website and on facebook just as soon as
the girls finish theirs. I am really really excited about this BOM.
I hope you will be too.
We
are now on Face Book!!!
The shoppe now has a page
on facebook. If you have finished a quilt from one of our classes
please post it so all can see. Or if you just have something you want
to share with us or other quilters. I will be posting special events
on the page and a few surprises. I hope that this becomes a forum for
information in the quilting world, both locally and from around the
world. I hope it becomes a source of inspiration to all that become
a fan. Please check us out.

Purse of the Month (I am a little behind but I do have a new one)
See the latest and greatest
purses on the market each month. One of us here, at the quilt shoppe,
will search out the best of the best and make you a sample each month.
We will have that purse on display for you to view and we will also
have the pattern available or a kit ready for you to create our pick
of the month purse. Purses are in and what better way to get what you
like? Make it. This is a great gift item also, for those of you who
wish to start your holiday shopping. Now is the time to get busy. This
year make a personal gift for each special person on your list. We will
have great ideas all through the summer and fall so stop in and see
what's up.
Bali
Lama Club
For those of you that can't
live without your batiks, me included, we have come up with a $16.00
a month batik collection. Each month we will offer a bundle of batiks
to feed your need. They will be available the 1st of every month. Come
and check them out. Get a sampling of the prettiest batiks each month.
New
Block-of-the-Month It's a Boy, It's a Girl!!
The whole point of doing
the BOM this way is to get you to use up some of those beautiful scraps
you have been collecting and to make every quilt unique. Every quilt
should be unique. You need to put a piece of yourself into each quilt
you make. Again, we will have a quilt show at the end to display all
your talent and believe me there is a lot of talent out there. Come
in and sign up for the BOM. It's going to be fun.
